Yesterday (6/22), we were one of the first outlets to report (via Instagram) the death of reggae artist Delus, who just happens to be the brother of dancehall’s own, Konshens.

Unfortunately, Delus, whose real name is Delmark Spence, took his own life early Wednesday (6/22) morning. His body was found in the bathroom of his Kingston home.

Delus shot himself in the mouth right after he recorded a video about how incredibly stressed out he was.

Days prior to his death, Delus seemed to be in good spirits; especially since he just celebrated his birthday day less than a week ago. He took to Instagram to post a video thanking all of his dedicated fans.

In the video he stated: “I want to say big respect to all the people who wish me a happy birthday, and happy Fathers Day, shout out to all the people who made my day special.”

Delus is actually a part of his brother’s label, Subkonshus, and has made several songs with Konshens himself.

According to Ragashanti, the video that Delus recorded revealed several issues that he was facing. One of the issues included the grueling hardships that comes along with being a part of dancehall.

Word on the street is that dancehall artist Laden was the last person to have any contact with Delus before he died. Laden told Delus he would be right back and that he was going to make a quick run to the liquor store.

This is such an unfortunate situation.  We are incredibly sorry for Delus’ family and friends. This is a huge loss for not only his immediate family but dancehall as well.  It will never be the same.

We can’t stress enough how important it is to reach out to someone if you are having thoughts of taking your own life.  If you don’t have anyone to reach out to, please call the Suicide Prevention Hotline at (800)-273-8255! You’re important and the world needs you! Don’t ever forget it!
