Reports have been made that two people were murdered on the campus of UCLA early this morning.  The campus is currently in lockdown mode and hundreds of students are hiding in buildings to remain safe.

The two men that were killed were found in the engineering building.  It hasn’t been made clear as to whether or not they were students or staff members of UCLA.
Police Officer Tony Im said that reports were made about an active shooter being in close proximity to the campus.  It’s also not clear as to whether or not the shooter was among one of the dead bodies found.

According to, “Officials put the campus on lockdown as authorities investigated the incident. Large groups of police with long guns patrolled the streets of the campus of more than 40,000 students. SWAT officers and dozens of squad cars filled the area as police tried to clear campus buildings floor by floor.”
Freshman Teddi Mattox told students, “We got the alert and a woman said, ‘This is not a joke, everyone get to the back of the dining hall because we have to stay away from the windows.  We’re crowded back here, we’ve been here for at least an hour and a half. People are crying, they’re nervous, they’re shaking. “
The cause and nature of the horrific shooting is unclear and still under investigation.

CNN has also reported, “Los Angeles police issued a citywide tactical alert, meaning officers on duty will be extended.” Authorities have urged residents to avoid the UCLA campus at all costs.
This is such a sad event for UCLA as students are prepping for final exams and graduation is taking place next Friday.
