Since we were introduced to DMX back in the 90’s, we instantly fell in love with his dark and rough persona. Born as Earl Simmons in Baltimore, Maryland on December 18, 1970, X moved to Yonkers with his family as a young kid.

We learned quickly of DMX’s horrific childhood, which molded him into the man that we got to know over the decades. He was abused and mistreated as a kid, so he lashed out and it landed him on the streets. He spent time robbing people and had a number of run-ins with the police.

“He found his saving grace in hip-hop, starting out as a DJ and human beatbox, and later moved into rapping for a greater share of the spotlight, taking his name from the DMX digital drum machine (though it’s also been reinterpreted to mean “Dark Man X”). He made a name for himself on the freestyle battle scene and was written up in The Source magazine’s Unsigned Hype column in 1991,” says MTV.

A few months ago, we learned of an apparent drug overdose where DMX was found in the parking lot of a hotel in NYC. This seemed to have acted as a wake up call because the Yonkers rapper is back on the right track.

It appears that DMX is working on a new album and it will feature collaborations from some big names like, Kanye West & Dr. Dre. Swizz Beatz, long time friend of DMX, broke the news on Instagram.

We are looking forward to it.  DMX is a beast at what he does and this album has been a long time coming.
